Biography Sebastian Diezig was born 1983 in Fribourg, Switzerland. He was prize winner at the 4th International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition 2008 in Zagreb (Special Award for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece "La Follia" by Giovanni Sollima), won first prize at the Concours Pierre et Renée Glasson 2004 in Fribourg, and received third prize at the Concours de l'Interprétation musicale de Lausanne 2003. As a soloist he has been accompanied -among others- by the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Budweis Philharmonic (Cze). He was invited to the Festivals Sine Nomine Lausanne, VivaCello Liestal and the Steirisches Kammermusikfestival. Sebastian began playing the Cello at the age of six at the Conservatoire de Fribourg under the guidance of Pierre-Bernard Sudan. Later, as a student of Marc Jaerman at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, he received his Teaching Diploma with the highest distinctions. Scholarships of the Foundations "Pierre et Renée Glasson" (Fribourg) and "Paul und Maria Kremer" (Cologne) made possible further studies with Thomas Demenga at the Musikhochschule Basel where he received in 2007 the Concert Diploma with the highest distinctions. At the moment, Sebastian continues his studies in Thomas Demenga's Soloist Class. Mr. Diezig's chamber music teachers were Walter Levin and Sebastian Hamann with whom he studied string quartet intensively and Gérard Wyss during his piano trio studies. Of great importance to him were also the numerous master classes in which he has participated, among others with: Marcio Carneiro, Martin Ostertag, Antonio Meneses, Wen-Sinn Yang, Wolfgang Boettcher, Miklos Perényi, Thomas Grossenbacher, Ralph Kirshbaum, Reinhard Latzko, François Guye and Alexander Rudin. |
